Why So Many First Responders Are Choosing West Virginia

Surrounded by Natural Beauty

West Virginia is one of the most scenic states in the country. Rolling mountains, winding rivers, lush forests, and picturesque valleys create breathtaking views in every season.

Residents enjoy easy access to state parks, hiking trails, scenic drives, waterfalls, and outdoor destinations that make everyday life feel like a weekend getaway. It's the perfect setting for those who appreciate fresh air, open spaces, and the beauty of nature.
A Lifestyle That Moves at Your Pace

Instead of busy highways and crowded neighborhoods, you'll find peaceful communities where neighbors know one another and people take the time to enjoy life's simple moments. It's a place where you can slow down, spend more time with family, and focus on the things that matter most.

For those transitioning from demanding careers in public service, that slower pace can be one of the state's greatest rewards.

Endless Opportunities for Outdoor Adventure

West Virginia is an outdoor enthusiast's paradise. Whether you enjoy hiking through the mountains, fishing in clear rivers, kayaking, camping, hunting, skiing, or simply exploring scenic backroads, there's always a new adventure waiting nearby.

Every season brings something unique, making it easy to stay active and connected to the outdoors throughout the year.
Strong Communities Built on Tradition

One of West Virginia's greatest strengths is its people.

Communities throughout the state are known for their hospitality, resilience, and strong sense of connection. People take pride in helping their neighbors, supporting local businesses, and preserving the traditions that make their towns unique.

For many first responders, those values create an immediate sense of belonging.

Charlie Younkin

For more than 30 years, I have been actively involved in investing in, renovating, and facilitating the purchase of residential and commercial real estate throughout Michigan and Florida. In addition to my real estate work, I manage From the Badge to the Beach, a referral-based relocation program designed to help individuals identify and transition into ideal retirement and lifestyle destinations.

Before entering real estate full time, I served for 28 years as a police officer. That experience instilled in me the importance of integrity, accountability, and trust, principles that continue to guide how I work with clients today. Since retiring in 2022, I have focused exclusively on helping buyers and sellers navigate the real estate process with clarity and confidence.

With hands-on experience in both Michigan and Florida markets, I provide clients with valuable insight into regional trends, investment opportunities, and strategic property selection. My approach combines market knowledge with innovative search strategies and creative solutions to ensure each client is presented with options that align with their goals.

I live in Livingston County and raised my family in Wayne and Macomb counties, giving me a strong connection to the communities I serve. Beyond real estate, I am deeply committed to supporting the mental health and wellness of first responders, frontline workers, and military personnel through my foundation, Lines of Heroes, which provides resources and support to those who serve our communities and our country.
