Why So Many First Responders Are Choosing South Carolina

A Lifestyle Centered Around Enjoying Life

South Carolina is a place where people take time to enjoy the things that matter most. Whether it's spending the morning on the golf course, taking a walk along the beach, enjoying fresh seafood by the water, or gathering with family and friends, life here encourages you to slow down and appreciate the moment.

Many people who relocate to South Carolina say they immediately notice the difference. The pace feels more manageable, the communities feel welcoming, and
Beautiful Coastlines and Natural Beauty

South Carolina is home to some of the most scenic coastal communities in the country. From the Grand Strand to the Lowcountry, residents enjoy easy access to beaches, waterways, nature preserves, and outdoor recreation.
Beyond the coast, the state also offers rolling countryside, charming historic towns, and beautiful lakes that provide year-round opportunities to explore and enjoy the outdoors.
A Climate That Keeps You Outdoors

One of the biggest advantages of living in South Carolina is the weather. Mild winters and long stretches of warm temperatures allow residents to spend more time outside and less time dealing with snow and freezing temperatures.
Whether you enjoy boating, fishing, golfing, gardening, or simply relaxing outdoors, South Carolina's climate makes it easy to enjoy an active lifestyle throughout much of the year.
Welcoming Communities and Southern Hospitality

South Carolina is known for its friendly people and strong sense of community. New residents often find it easy to settle in and feel at home.

Whether you're relocating to a coastal town, a growing suburban area, or a quieter community, you'll find neighbors who value connection, hospitality, and a strong sense of local pride.

For many first responders, that feeling of community is one of the biggest reasons they choose to stay.

Charlie Younkin

For more than 30 years, I have been actively involved in investing in, renovating, and facilitating the purchase of residential and commercial real estate throughout Michigan and Florida. In addition to my real estate work, I manage From the Badge to the Beach, a referral-based relocation program designed to help individuals identify and transition into ideal retirement and lifestyle destinations.

Before entering real estate full time, I served for 28 years as a police officer. That experience instilled in me the importance of integrity, accountability, and trust, principles that continue to guide how I work with clients today. Since retiring in 2022, I have focused exclusively on helping buyers and sellers navigate the real estate process with clarity and confidence.

With hands-on experience in both Michigan and Florida markets, I provide clients with valuable insight into regional trends, investment opportunities, and strategic property selection. My approach combines market knowledge with innovative search strategies and creative solutions to ensure each client is presented with options that align with their goals.

I live in Livingston County and raised my family in Wayne and Macomb counties, giving me a strong connection to the communities I serve. Beyond real estate, I am deeply committed to supporting the mental health and wellness of first responders, frontline workers, and military personnel through my foundation, Lines of Heroes, which provides resources and support to those who serve our communities and our country.
